In this day in age I can find any piece of information in a split second. A friend tell me something and reach me any time of day from across the globe. I can learn what any celebrity has done to make a fool of themselves in their own home. And I can watch a live baseball game from nearly anywhere. The elections in the last decade have been like none others, it changes the outcome of the world. The media controls our views and the internet has everything you could possibly want to know about these politicians. http://www.cnn.com/

I cannot argue that I am obsessed with technology and have always been intrigued but what it has to offer us. But if you are like me, you will glare at the guy in the airport with his ear piece in and a slave to his blackberry. The iPhone is faster than ever, only a year after it was made. http://www.apple.com/iphone/ Ten years ago this would be a dream, a dream to even have a cell phone. Think about the last ten years and how much has even developed. Take a look at the video posted and see for yourself. And now think about how long it took for the automobile to get to where it is now, or even in its first ten years.

I will also critique and how we are becoming a generation dependant on technology. Little kids are glued to the tv because their parents won’

t take them to the park on a nice day. Nine year old girls, with iPhones in Los Angelos, pretending to be their favorite slutty washed up celebrity, dressing like them, and having access to an internet and television only made for adults.

We are all becoming slaves to this world, and there seems to be no escape. What we need to do is slow down, the world is moving so fast and it is hard to stop and take a good look at the beauty around us. Try leaving your cell phone at home one day, it will drive you nuts. What if my kid gets hurt? What if I want to take a cool picture because I don’t even own a camera any more? Or what if my friend sends me a funny forwarded e-mail and I can’

t write back? These would be the questions running through our minds. Well, we managed this ten years ago why not now.

Take a walk in the woods someday, and turn your phone off. Pick up a news paper instead of the internet. Try and slow down, and do not become a slave to this world, because its only a mater of time before the world advances again.

Racial profiling is a confusing topic, and is a tough topic to discuss because we are afraid to offend anyone. It is obviously bad for us to racially profile anyone, but no one can deny that they haven’t come to any fast conclusions about someone of another race before they even knew them. So why do we do this? Like the example in the book, if we sat next to an arab on the plane would we think about 9/11, unfortunately the answer is yes. We can’t help but to think about stereotypes, because sometimes the stereotypes are true. This all needs to change, we have to think of everybody on a human level, and not any different than someone else, and we can help our own races by changing the bad stereotypes and making them into good ones.

I want to be in that league

Thesis: There are two leagues in major league baseball, which is better?

What we know:

-National League (NL) and American League (AL)

-The designated hitter is in the AL, but not the NL

-Most people would say, and the number say it, that the AL has better teams, however worse ones too

-Meaning the NL has a better balance of teams, providing better competition

-In recent history the AL does much better during inner-league match-ups

-AL was won most of all the ALL-Star games in the last decade or so

FW9: Halloween costume

My favorite halloween costume was one my mom made for my brother when he was little, then a year or two later I used the costume, and after that my little sister wore the costume. We were young and thought the dinosaur costume our mom made was the coolest. I like this memory because every once in a while I will stumble upon the costume and think about how many times we used it.

I would say when people lie, it generally pisses me off. I’m the kind of person that doesn’t really let anything get under my skin, so its not a big deal, but it sucks when you know someone is lying and everyone around you believes them, and people get a bad perception of you. I also get pissed off when people talk a lot about money, or how expensive something is, I feel like its best not too worry about that.

Yo its your future-self, I know your only 16 but now that we are in college you should know somethings. Work harder your a bit lazy, but you got into this college so whatever. Keep your friends close, don’t get in trouble, it will be worth it because you will like it here. Don’t bother with the SAT because you won’t use them to get in here. Enjoy the times you will have at school, being at your boarding school will definitely help you when you get to college.

My favorite toy when I was a boy was legos, my older brother and I played with legos for years. We built boats, cars, planes, cities, or whatever our creative little minds lead us to build. Even in the summertime my brother and I would sit in our rooms and play with them. I feel like most of the time we would argue over them as well, however this just means that we really cared about our legos. There were other toys as well, like G.I. joes and ninja turtles, but for some reason I always remember legos.

In television today commercials and advertisements give us exactly what we want, whether we know it or not. For men they put on commercials that would be a Man’s Man commercial, which would have something to do with sports or subtly have women involved, anything that would appeal to men. Women have that something for them too, in commercials. We are basically programed to in media to listen to things that are told to us, just because it tickles our fancy. Our perception of gender will not change if advertisements stay the same. Making it hard for someone to break out of the norm. People will always follow what their told, because no body wants to be caught on the outside of that.
